What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the hundreds of chemical compounds known as phytocannabinoids found in abundance in the cannabis plant. CBD and THC, (tetrahydrocannabinol), are the two which have been studied most extensively. Often CBD is described as the non-impairing cannabinoid (will not get you high), whereas THC is described as the intoxicating or psychoactive compound of the cannabis plant. Both will do great things for you on their own, but the reality is that they work best together, synergistically, in what's known as the Entourage Effect.

What Is A Phytocannabinoid?

A phytocannabinoid is a cannabinoid or chemical, produced by the cannabis plant.

What Is A Cannabinoid?

Cannabinoids are chemicals that trigger the cannabinoid receptors, (and other receptors too!) located in both the brain and the body.

An endocannabinoid is a cannabinoid that naturally occurs in the body.

A synthetic cannabinoid is created in a pharmaceutical laboratory.

nug-top2.jpgWhat Is The Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS), much like the cardiovascular, pulmonary or neurological system, is a network of cannabinoid receptors in the body, and plays a crucial role in regulating numerous vital functions such as sleep, mood, pain, memory, appetite, and inflammation.

A healthy ECS is necessary for overall homeostasis and balance.

Why Use CBD?

Like other body systems, our ECS can become depleted and benefit from supplementation.

Scientific research, clinical studies, and anecdotal patient reports have shown that CBD supplementation could be supportive for many conditions.

What CBD Do I Use?

In general, it's best to use full spectrum extracts which include the hundreds of phytocannabinoids in the cannabis plant (CBD, THC, CBDA, THCV, CBG, CBN, etc.), as well as many other therapeutic plant constituents, such as plant terpenes (aromatic essential oils), essential fatty acids, and flavonoids.

Full spectrum CBD products contain less than 0.3% THC, which is the legal THC limit for hemp, and will not produce a psychoactive effect.

Will I Have A Positive Urine Drug Screen For THC?

Because even trace amounts of THC can accumulate in the body over time, it is possible to test positive for THC when taking full spectrum hemp products with less than 0.3% THC.

Why Use Full Spectrum?

NurseGrown's full spectrum - or whole plant - extracts include hundreds of phytocannabinoids from the cannabis plant - though they contain less than 0.3% THC. Whole plant extracts also contain other therapeutic plant constituents, such as terpenes (aromatic oils), essential fatty acids and flavonoids.

Plant medicine works best using full spectrum extracts because all the individual components work synergistically in what is known as the Entourage Effect. Neuroscientist and cannabis researcher Ethan Russo, who coined the term Entourage Effect, states that "synergy is about boosting the effect. So instead of two plus two equals four, this component plus that component in cannabis might be equal to six."

Full spectrum whole plant CBD works more efficiently and effectively than CBD isolates or broad spectrum, yet is unlikely to have the euphoric effects associated with THC.

How Is NurseGrown Organics Full Spectrum CBD Extracted?

Our CBD is extracted using certified organic food grade ethanol. Ethanol extraction captures more of the whole plant energy and plant compounds than other processes and has thousands of years of recorded use as an effective and affordable botanical solvent.

Our final products are tested to ensure that no residual ethanol remains.

How Is NurseGrown Organics Formulated?

We use organic hemp seed oil as our carrier base, which increases the bioavailability (how easily it's absorbed by the body) of all the cannabinoids. We source only the highest quality organic ingredients, keeping everything as local as possible to be mindful of our carbon footprint.

Full panel lab tested products are the cornerstone of transparency, and best ensure consumer safety. Comprehensive lab analysis verifies product potency (amount of cannabinoids) and more importantly, product cleanliness and purity.

Purity testing certifies that the product is free of harmful pesticides, mycotoxins, molds/mildews, biological contaminants and residual solvents. We use third party ISO certified independent lab testing to ensure all the requirements for standardization and quality assurance are met and documented.

All NurseGrown products are full panel lab tested. Always look for and request full panel testing.

How Do I Take CBD?

Oil tinctures can be held under the tongue (sublingually) or taken orally. Oil can also be placed in water or on food if necessary. The CBD will take effect more quickly (in 15-60 minutes) if it's held under the tongue.

Oral capsules and oil which has been swallowed will have a slower onset of 30-90 minutes.

The effects of both sublingually or orally consumed cannabis can last 4-8 hours or more.

Will Cannabinoids Interact With Other Medications Or Supplements?

It is possible, but often minimal and or harmless as compared to many other options. Always check with your healthcare provider before taking any herbal supplements. It is best to take CBD several hours apart from other supplements and medications when possible. Drugs.com and Medscape have websites and phone apps that check interaction for both CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
